Sydney, along with another cat, was left in a flat above a pharmacy; the flat was bought by the pharmacy; one of their staff moved in and the two cats were inside. Sydney then spent three months in emergency boarding under the National society waiting for a rehoming Branch, such as ours, to take him in.

When Sydney first arrived with us he was very withdrawn.

After initially hiding for a few days, he began to venture out but it was immediately apparent that something was not quite right. He had significant muscle wastage round his back end and his tail was swishing rapidly. He also wasn’t happy about being touched on his lower back. We took him to the vets where he had different tests, X-rays, physio. Eventually the physio could feel an abnormality in his spine suggestive of an old untreated injury.

He’s now on pain relief and has seen the physio a few times. There has been much improvement and he’s much more comfortable.

He is quite a quirky character! He loves his food and is kept entertained with puzzle feeders and treat balls. He does nip but not very often. He makes me laugh because he enjoys a stroke and then slowly opens his mouth ready to nip. I say "A! A!"and he slowly closes his mouth again with a look of "Oh, alright then".

He is very affectionate and gives very enthusiastic head bops. He needs an experienced quiet home with no children or pets. Once you know his little ways, he really does make you laugh!
He is now ready to start his new adventures! His physiotherapist suggests he be a house cat with lots of enrichment and with access to a catio. Or supervised visits to a safe secure garden. An experienced cat owner is required.
