If you are interested in applying to adopt Arthur, please visit I’d been off work for a few days when I first heard the murmurings, just a few whisperings along the grapevine:
“…someone new…someone special”
“…stunningly handsome…”
“…half an ear…”
“…You must meet him”
Faster and faster they came, each one a thread added to the loom fashioning his resplendent reputation. Before I’d even met him, I felt I half-knew him.
But this wasn’t true. It couldn’t be.
Until he’s wrapped in your arms, you cannot begin to know him.
Until he’s shaped himself into your lap, you cannot begin to understand him.
Until he’s rolled over before you in play, you cannot begin to fathom his ways.
Arthur is not a dog that you can hear about, or be told of, and have any actual awareness of how truly amazing he is. He has a puppy’s openness to life, a puppy’s smile, a puppy’s love of absolutely everybody. His every action is oriented towards sharing and/or receiving love and affection, his heart must be almost limitless in its breadth.
His manner makes it almost impossible to talk of him dispassionately. To talk of commands, or of manners or of other pragmatic things, it misses the point of him. He’s a dog to laugh with and to cry over, a dog to press kisses upon and to change your life for. Arthur is a dog chosen by the heart before he is chosen by the head.
